Here is a quick reminder of everything happening at The Radish this week.
Tuesday, June 7 @ 7pm – Alternative Media Meeting. Is it time for an alternative media source (e.g., community radio, print, or IMC/indymedia) for the greater Springfield area? Please come discuss ways to create this important resource for our community.
Wednesday, June 8 @ 7 pm – “Pass Wind, Not Gas.” Simon Mahan of SMSU’s Sierra Club will present on wind energy capabilities in Springfield. As you know, the powers that be are currently pondering future energy supplies—namely, coal--for Springfield.
Thursday, June 9 @ 6:30 pm – United for Peace and Justice, War and Globalization Workshop and Coalition Building. This will be the formative meeting for a UFPJ group in Springfield. Come out and help them get started!
Saturday, June 11 @ 12:00-6:00 pm – Movie Marathon! In conjunction with Pride Week, The Radish will be hosting a Pride Movie Marathon during the day on Saturday. We will show movies such as “But I’m a Cheerleader,” “Priscilla, Queen of the Desert,” and more TBA. Feel free to bring snacks! And let us know if you have any movie suggestions.
Sunday, June 12 @ 12:00-6:30 pm – Come visit us at The Radish table during the Pride Fest in Phelps Grove Park. This day-long event should be a lot of fun.
And two more things.
First, in case you hadn’t noticed, this whole week is Pride Week! Please check out www.showmemopride.com for a complete schedule. There are a lot of great events going on all week.
Second, don’t forget that on Monday (June 6), the last public forum of the Energy Task Force meeting will be taking place. The meeting runs from 7-9 pm at The Discovery Center. This will be the only meeting taking place in the evening when most working people and students can attend. Please come and let them know that you are paying attention and that you do care about this issue!
Hope to see you soon!
Yours,
The Radish
