Skill Shares, Other Events, Books & Stickers

Hey there, kids!

We've got a lot of stuff to cover today, so try and bear with us.

Firstly, we have some updates for you on the Know Your Rights Training on the 28th. Its actually three different courses bundled into one (Know Your Rights, Grand Jury, and a Green Scare update):

Know Your Rights:
This training covers all of the basic legal information for interactions with police. Topics range from questioning to searches to safety. The interactive format allows participants to explore their options in realistic settings.

Grand Jury:
This training covers the use and proliferation of Grand Juries as a tool of repression against activist communities. You will learn how a Grand Jury functions, how it ignores basic rights, and how you can resist.

Green Scare Update:
In December of 2005 federal and local law enforcement began the largest roundup of alleged environmental and animal liberation activists in the United State's history. The FBI's operation, dubbed "Operation Backfire," soon grew into a devastating nationwide series of subpoenas, arrests, and indictments, which would soon be referred to as "The Green Scare" by animal and environmental activists. Come learn about the Green Scare and it's implications for activism in a post-9/11 world.

Once again, it is very important that you come to this! Without knowing your rights, you're simply allowing others to abuse them.

You guys should also come to our regularly scheduled meetings as well. These are our organizational “shmeetings” (every other Tues. at 7pm), potlucks (every Mon. at 7pm), and Open Mic nights (every Fri. - except for the 2nd Fri. of the month - at 7pm). In fact, Open Mic is happening tonight, so come on & join us!

We also have a wide selection of literature, both for sale and not (this includes plenty of crimethinc. material). Our lending library has recently been redesigned to provide a nice little reading area, and you can take anything you like home free of charge! Our Zines, however, are for in-store use only.
While you're here, you should also check out our very own copy of Sticker Nation. For those of you who don't know, this is a gigantic, radical sticker-book put out by disinformation, and were selling stickers from it for 50 cents a piece!

We also have a wide variety of other radical stickers, buttons, etc. for anyone who's interested in this sort of thing. Please remember that The Radish is completely non-profit, and all of the proceeds from these sales are going to be keeping The Radish alive (read: paying the rent), which is a pretty good cause in our opinion.

Viva la Radishals!
