First, a community announcement from the 4000 Soldiers - 4000 Bodies demonstration .
Sadly the four thousandth soldier was killed today (Easter Sunday) in Iraq. Over the next few days, each of us will process this number in our own ways, but on Sunday, March 30th, we will be meeting on campus to orchestrate the 4000 Soldiers - 4000 Bodies demonstration.
On Sunday, March 30, 2008 we will meet at 10:00 am in the Plaster Student Union on the Missouri State University campus. We will set up on the west end of the food court near the Chinese restaurant called "Wok and Roll" and begin organizing.
The people who have information as to how and where to begin will be wearing bright orange T-Shirts. Please talk to one of them for specific instructions.
In addition to your much needed labor you can bring donations of chalk, outlines of bodies cut into cardboard or other materials to use as templates, bottled water, easy snack foods, and any fliers you have assembled to copy and pass out on the following Monday.
The chalking will probably go on for most of the day, but any amount of time you can stay would make a difference. Any help for any amount of time will be appreciated.
So what's happening at the Radish???
April 1st Grand Re-Opening (1pm to 9pm) - This is the first day our doors have been open since March of last year. We invite everyone to stop by and have a tour of the space, learn about our "city repair" projects, have a cup of coffee, and browse and borrow from our lending library.
5pm Wal-Mart Shoppers Unite! This is call out to everyone who knows they should stop buying from Wal-Mart, but can't. This is a call out to everyone who believes that Wal-Mart should have Worker Unions. This is even for people who love Wal-Mart, but feel that the world's largest corporation should pay their employees fair wages and obey labor laws. Did you know, Wal-Mart closes down stores and departments that unionize? This event is a brainstorming session, we feel that if Wal-Mart won't let their employee's unionize, then then the customers need to unionize to demand that Springfield's Wal-Mart's change their policy and allow worker unions.
