October 17th Shmeeting

There was a shmeeting last night in the space. The main topic was funding, and the lack of events planned for October and November.

It seems obvious that to keep the space open we need to have more events sechduled in the space. There are several things which are being planned right now to increase the flow of people through the door. There is a show planned Sunday [old calendar link]. There is also an open mic night under consideration. We are going to open the Radish to early evening shows, and split donations brought in under the show fifty/fifty with the bands.

We are going to begin calling volunteers regarding specific tasks that need to be done. (For instance, the show on Sunday is going to require a few volunteers to run the door, work the counter, do set up, tear down, etc.) We are also going to begin requesting specific people come speak/do skillshares. If you have any ideas about possible workshops or speakers, let us know, or just set up an event.

Fliering is a main concern. To get people out, they have to know about an event. That is hard to do if they are not told several times about it beforehand.

The general jist seemed to be that use of the space had to increase for the Radish to be contributing to the community. This is important because without the community, the Radish is nothing.

If any of you have ideas for events, just let us know. We aren't doing well financially, and we need to know that the Radish is affecting the community for it to stay open and functioning. The best way for the Radish to be used is by the community as a sounding board, discussion group, and gathering space.
