Recycled, Modified, & Updated

Greetings Radishal individuals!

The calendar lives at the very bottom of the page. Go take a peek and see what's going on, and maybe check into adding an event yourself!

With the end of school looming for some, and already here for others, preparations for summer travel are ongoing, and planting season already well under way, there continue to be changes in who you see most frequently around The Radish House. There continue to be serious improvements to The Radish Infoshop and community, and volunteers with new ideas are always welcome!

The Free Store:

The geodesic dome is getting it's door this week, and we welcome any ideas about materials and supplies to cover it with. We are thinking rain proof, durable, and cheap or free. Any ideas? We also could use some duct tape, cardboard, and Styrofoam for mending sharp screws and thus putting us closer to it's completion! Any volunteers? Speaking of the free store, there are a lot of great things sitting neglected in boxes and bags that could use a good home. College dumpster trade circle is all day on Friday 5/30, and on Saturday 5/31. There will be free pizza starting at 3pm on Saturday, so come on by with an empty tummy and your rescued goods, and let's activate this gift economy!

The Lending Library:

We are needing more volunteers to catalog books into LibraryThing.com so our community, friends, families, and travelers can know what they are looking for. The new shelf for the video reference library looks wonderful, it's already full of great videos, and more are coming in all the time. Drop in and check out something stimulating!

Urban Gardening:

The garden is creeping slowly around the building and out towards the street, while it's inhabitant plants are strong, healthy, and beautiful. We have a new mini-greenhouse built, but nothing is growing in it yet. Do you have an idea of what we can grow there? Can you help to make it happen? We are always looking for new ways to enlighten and empower the Urban Gardening Team, and we love volunteers! If you'd like to check it out, the center will continue to open on Sundays from 1 pm-8ish, and during the week by chance and availability of volunteers. On a side note, we could definitely use some extra dirt/topsoil/used coffee grounds for the projects currently underway, and if you want to start a compost bucket in your kitchen, we'd be glad to add your wealth to our heap.

Creative Art Projects:

The hammock stand has finished it's journey to us, and now need some twine to make a hammock with! We would like to see some more ideas come in for a tri-fold pamphlet, fliers, and handout cards, and we would love to see what you create!

Recycling

We are always accepting old cell phones and printer cartridges for our ongoing recycling efforts, and now we also have a spot for plastic bottles, paper, and aluminum. Bring in your recycling, and we'll make sure it gets reused instead of going to waste in some garbage dump.

Folk Corner every 1st Friday Art Walk:

The 'Free Tea Campaign' continues at the Downtown Square on the 6th of June! It will be part of Folk Corner and we will be stationed there with several gallons of hot water and tea bags aplenty! Bring your own cup and enjoy free tea at the Square! Musical instruments are not required but welcomed with open arms!

Dumpster Night

Dumpster night is every Tuesday, so drop in and let's journey to save the landfills together! Carpooling is the rule, and there's plenty of rescued goodies for all.

Thanks for all your support!

Please come by and see what we are up to. We've been open almost every day, and many things get accomplished when there are open minds and hands. There are so many great ideas, we just don't have the time to do them all ourselves, so please stop by and see the changes we are making in this community together! You'll be glad you did!

Yours in Solidarity,
Another Radishal
