July 26 Shmeeting Minutes

September United for Peace and Justice Mobilization
-we would like to take a group from The Radish
-jojo working on flyers and sign up sheet
-possibly do fundraising event to pay for van or gas
-jenny print more ufpj flyers for around town
-look into housing and food

Community Outreach meeting update
-The Radish will be hosting a series called “Strengthening our Community” for other local orgs to come to the space and do a presentation about their
group, what they do, who they serve, etc – if time allows, they can also do a
topical presentation – the series will begin on September 7 or 8th and
continue every other week (at 7 pm) – stay tuned for more details

Media Conference
-Sue is putting together an Alternative Media Conference at the Library
Station (corner of Kearney and Kansas Expwy) – media activists from st louis
will be coming to Springfield to talk about LoPower Radio, web-based IMC,
print media,and more
-jenny will be working on a sign up sheet

Convocation
-The Radish will be hosting post-Drury Convocation discussions, their theme
this year is Sustainability, so there should be some great speakers
-midge has offered to make some flyers – we’ll probably want one big in house
flyer and individual flyers for each month? week?
-need to see if we can ask the speaker to mention the discussion groups at
The Radish (jenny ask heather)

Anarchy Discussion Group
-haven’t had one in a while- resume on the 16th and 30th of August at 6 pm

Labor Day
-Matthew is going to look into the possibility of us participating in the
parade! Possibly check with the unions
-anyone know how to make puppets?

IMC update
-Matthew has drafted mission statement
-meeting tomorrow (Wed) at 7pm, Meyer Library
(UPDATE: midge is now working on a website – check www.swmoindymedia in
a few days. . . let us know if you are interested in being on a discussion
list for the imc. The next meeting is Monday, August 1 at 7:30 pm, Meyer
Library meeting rooms on 1st floor, past checkout desk)

Mailbox
-we need one! Anyone have one?
-will ask in next email and put on wishlist

Bathrooms
-jojo will talk to jeff at the magic bean to see if he has any problems with
us putting up bathroom clean-up sign-up sheets in the bathroom – we don’t
foresee any problems – in short, clean the bathrooms!

Misc
-jessi is checking with bands to play at The Radish
-we have a lot of open weekends coming up – all you musicians let us know if
you would like to play!
